Welcome to Arrest Stories. A thirty-six-year-old woman was arrested on aggravated child abuse charges after allegedly dunking a six-year-old boy underwater at a Florida resort pool. Here's what may have happened.
On Friday afternoon, December nineteenth, just after four thirty p.m., Osceola County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center pool deck regarding a battery involving a child. Three children had been playing in the pool when their splashing became aggressive.
According to the arrest report, Tiffany Lee Griffith witnessed a six-year-old boy dunk her own six-year-old son underwater during the rough play. Griffith then entered the pool and began yelling at the boy who had dunked her son.
Deputies say Griffith placed both hands on the six-year-old victim's shoulders and forcibly pushed him under the water, holding him submerged for several seconds. The child exited the pool visibly upset and suffering from a nosebleed, immediately reporting the incident to his parents.
During court proceedings, prosecutors stated that placing both hands on the child's shoulders and forcibly submerging him underwater was sufficient evidence for the charges. An official noted that some type of altercation had occurred, with the splashing becoming aggressive before the alleged assault.
The incident report initially did not provide detailed information about either the children's fight or the alleged dunking. It was not immediately clear from initial reports exactly how long Griffith may have held the child underwater.
One official commented that it was when the child approached the parents that injuries became apparent, stating there was no mention of any action taken between the initial incident and when injuries were discovered.
Griffith was arrested by Osceola County Sheriff's Office deputies on December nineteenth and is being held without bond. She was scheduled to appear in court on December twenty-third.
All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
