POSTAL WORKER ARRESTED FOR ONE MISTAKEN ASSUMPTION ABOUT CHILD

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A forty-one-year-old postal worker in Escambia County faces charges after allegedly attempting to run down a ten-year-old child with his delivery vehicle on December twenty-sixth. Here's what may have happened.

William White Jr was making deliveries in the Ensley area on Kingfisher Way and Kingfisher Court when he dropped off a package at the wrong address. The ten-year-old child who lived at that residence noticed the package was intended for a different neighbor. Acting helpfully, the child placed the misdelivered package on his electric scooter and began riding toward the correct address to deliver it properly.

White witnessed the child riding away with the package and incorrectly assumed the ten-year-old was stealing the mail. According to the Florida Highway Patrol investigation, White then made a deliberate decision that would lead to his arrest. White purposely steered his United States Postal Service vehicle toward the child, intentionally driving the delivery truck in the child's direction.

The child was able to escape serious harm by making it into a nearby yard, but White's vehicle ran over the child's electric scooter. The incident prompted an immediate response from law enforcement agencies who launched an investigation into the postal worker's actions.

The Florida Highway Patrol arrested White following their investigation into the incident. The charges stem from White's alleged attempt to use his postal vehicle as a weapon against the child who was simply trying to help ensure proper mail delivery in his neighborhood.

White is currently being held without bond in Escambia County. The case highlights the serious nature of the charges against the postal employee, who authorities say targeted a child based on a mistaken assumption about the boy's intentions with the misdelivered package.

The investigation revealed that what appeared to be theft was actually a good deed by a young resident trying to help his neighbors receive their mail properly.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
